Today, June 18, 2014, the area power system is expected to experience higher loads. The Cuyahoga Falls Electric Department is asking customers to reduce load between the hours of 2:00PM and 7:00PM today to help reduce charges on their bills.

Portions of Northamton Road Closed for Repair

 Eric M. Czetli, Director of Public Service, would like to alert residents and motorists that starting on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 and continuing through Thursday, June 19, 2014, Northampton Road between Portage Trail and Meredith Lane will be closed to repair the roadway damaged by the May 12th Storm. The road will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Emergency crews have been notified and detour signs are posted. We wish to thank the motoring public for their patience during this closure.

Cuyahoga Falls Civic Campus Parking Lot Closed for Maintenance

Mayor Don Walters would like to alert City of Cuyahoga Falls residents, Natatorium patrons, City employees and visitors to the City Civic Campus, that the parking lots surrounding City Hall and the Natatorium are scheduled for maintenance work on June 20-22, 2014, weather permitting.

City's Public Utilities Customer Advocate Recognized with Environmental Award

Eric M. Czetli, Director of Public Service, is pleased to announce that Becky McCleary, the City's Public Utilities Customer Advocate recently received a "Champion for the Environment" award by The League of Women Voters of Akron. The awards were presented to a number of women of many professions, who have been involved in environmental protection, preservation and conservation.

Assistance Request Denied from both the State and Federal Governments to Cuyahoga Falls Residents for Damage from the May 12 Storm

The storm on May 12, 2014 was one of the worst storms on record in Cuyahoga Falls history. Within hours of the event, City staff began compiling  damage assessment reports to potentially qualify for state and federal EMA assistance. As part of the compilation process and to ensure an accurate assessment of damages, Mayor Walters urged homeowners to report their damages to City Hall. In all, the City suffered property losses totaling more than $1.4 million.

Cuyahoga Falls Electric System Receives APPA RP3 Diamond Award

The Cuyahoga Falls Electric System was recently honored as one of 94 public power utilities to earn the 2014 Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) recognition from the APPA (American Public Power Association) for providing consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. The Cuyahoga Falls Electric System was first awarded this designation in 2012 with the Gold status. 2014 marked the utility's first year of achieving Diamond status, the highest possible designation.
