Caring Communities 2008 Health Expo

The Cuyahoga Falls Chamber and Stow Chamber of Commerce are pleased to present the Caring Communities 2008 Health EXPO on Saturday, October 11th!

Mayor Robart will kick off the event at 10:00 am. A drawing for door prizes will be held at 1:00 pm.

Flu Shots at the Natatorium

Mayor Don L. Robart announces flu-shot clinics will be held in the Natatorium Community Room on October 16 and 17, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Shots are $20 each; cash only. The clinic is open to the public. The flu vaccine will be administered by the Community Health Center. (The City is unable to bill Medicare or other insurance companies, so please bring cash.)

In addition to offering flu vaccinations, nursing students from the University of Akron will be on hand to provide blood pressure screenings.


Blood supplies are at dangerously low levels.The Northern Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross needs your help.

When Hurricane Ike made its presence in Ohio, it not only left behind power outages and down trees, but also a compromised blood supply. Our region of the American Red Cross is currently below minimum inventory levels on seven of the eight blood types with types O Negative, O Positive and B Negative in an emergency state below a half day's supply.

Police Auction on Saturday September 27th

Viewing begins at 8:00 am with the auction starting at 9:00 am at the Police Property Building, 2501 Bailey Rd. There will be many bikes, five cars and miscellaneous merchandise.

Natatorium Youth Policy Begins October 24th, 2008

Starting Friday October 24th, 2008 Natatorium members and/or guests, 15 years of age or younger, must be accompanied by a

legal guardian/parent on Fridays and Saturdays after 5 pm.

The legal guardian/parent must stay with the child in The Natatorium at all times.

Special Storm Clean Up

Due to the high winds from storm activity on the evening of September 14, 2008, The City of Cuyahoga Falls will offer curbside pick-up of branches and brush.

Down tree branches and brush resulting from the storm must be on the curb by 7:00 am Wednesday, September 17, 2008. This is a one-time pick-up. Debris should be bundled in four-foot sections, or bagged in the City's compost bags.

Natatorium Areas Temporarily Closed for Annual Maintenance

The Natatorium will be performing Annual Maintenance in the following three areas during the month of September.

The Aquatic Center will be closed Tuesday Septemeber 2nd -Wednesday Septemeber 10th, and will reopen Thursday September 11th.

The Basketball and Racquetball Courts will be closed Monday Sept 22nd - Sunday September 28th, and will reopen Monday September 29th.

State Road Shopping Center Sale Becomes A Reality

On August 29, 2008, the City of Cuyahoga Falls and State Road Associates closed on the long-awaited transaction to purchase the State Road Shopping Center. An agreement was reached earlier this year between the City and the shopping center management to purchase the center for $10,200,000 after the City filed an eminent domain action in October 2007. "We would have never reached this point in the process without the eminent domain action" stated Mayor Don Robart. Since January, both sides have been working out the details for finalization of the deal.

Myrtle Avenue Closed For Emergency Culvert Replacement

Valerie Wax Carr, Director of Public Service, would like to alert residents and motorists to the emergency replacement of the culvert pipe on Myrtle Avenue near Kelsey Drive beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2008. During this work, Myrtle Avenue will be closed between 1817 and 1823 Myrtle Avenue. Although through traffic will not be permitted during this work, access to all residents is being maintained from Northmoreland Boulevard, Bailey Road, and Munroe Falls Avenue. Emergency personnel have been notified.

The entire project is anticipated to take 45 days to complete.

City Files Grant Application for Future Redevelopment

The City of Cuyahoga Falls intends to file a grant application from the Clean Ohio Revitalization Fund for a remediation project located at 4610 State Road in the amount of $2.3 million. The application is available for review in the Peninsula Library. A public meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Buckeye Sports Center, 4610 State Road.
