Parks and Recreation Seeks Grant for Water Works Park Restroom Replacement

The Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public input on the replacement of a restroom located in the back of Water Works Park, next to the large playground. Grant application requirements must show a level of public input and the department is requesting citizen/park user feedback. The restroom proposal will include ADA accessible pathways and a new facility, which will accommodate all park users. How does this upgrade affect your visit(s) to Water Works Park?

The Summit Soil and Water Conservation District 2015 Clean Water Photography Contest

The Summit Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting entries for the 2015 Clean Water photography contest. Entries may be submitted now through September 1, 2015.

The contest theme for 2015 is “Honey-I Shrunk The Lawn” (Reducing the size of your lawn’s grassed area, using Native Plants and Healthy Landscaping Practices to Improve Water Quality.) In other words, redefining your yard space by down-sizing your turf grass area so that when it rains, more stormwater will remain on your land and out of the storm drains.

2015 Northeast Ohio Area II Envirothon-2015 Promoting “Urban/ Community Forestry”

Summit Soil and Water Conservation District is once again promoting the annual Area II Ohio Envirothon. The 2015 Area II Envirothon which will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Kent State University Regional Academic Center, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton, OH, 44021.  This event is an excellent opportunity for students to participate in an intellectually stimulating environmental competition.

Mayor's Youth Advisory Council

Mayor Don Walters is seeking energetic, engaged students, who reside in Cuyahoga Falls and are in or entering grades 9 through 12, to participate in the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council.  The Council will consist of eight students who will receive first-hand experience on how our local government works and will witness the process in action. The MYAC meetings will be held on the first and third Mondays of each month from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. prior to City Council meetings, which begin at 6:30 p.m.  The first MYAC meeting will be at 5:15 p.m.

Parks and Recreation Awarded Grant For New Boat Launch Facility

         Mayor Don Walters and Parks Superintendent Ed Stewart are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity in the works for the Cuyahoga River at River Front Park in Cuyahoga Falls.


Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio- Mayor Don Walters has announced that Cuyahoga Falls has entered into a new natural gas contract with IGS Energy.  The current contract is set to expire at the end of March, 2015.  The current IGS Energy rate of $4.46/mcf will run through your March billing period.

Summit County D.U.M.P. Program

Do you have unused Medications? There is a safe way to dispose of them.  Improper disposal of medicines presents both a public safety and environmental hazard. 

Summit County Public health, in collaboration with local community partners, has established a pharmaceutical disposal program for residents to safely dispose of their unused medications.

Cuyahoga Falls Electric System Plans Lunch & Learn Meeting and Webinar

The Cuyahoga Falls Electric System (CFES) in partnership with American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP), is hosting a Lunch & Learn meeting for CFES commercial and industrial electric utility customers on Tuesday, February 3rd, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, 2345 Fourth Street. There will also be a webinar for the AMP Demand Response program on Tuesday, February 24th at 10:00 AM.

City Encourages Participation in VITA, A Program for Free Tax Preparation Assistance

Mayor Don Walters has partnered with Neighborhood Development Services (NDS) to bring the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to Cuyahoga Falls residents. This means, IRS-certified volunteers will provide free basic income tax return preparation to qualified individuals for the April 15 filing deadline.
