Valerie Wax Carr, Director of Public Service announces that the City of Cuyahoga Falls is eagerly planning the annual Arbor Day Program, which will take place Friday, April 27, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Kennedy Park, 2100 Issaquah Street. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Each year, the City plants a tree to honor a facet of Cuyahoga Falls that has made a significant impact in our community. This year, we will honor our city's Bicentennial with the planting of a Celebration Maple tree.
Along with the program, the City selects a school to participate in an Arbor Day Poster Contest. This year the 4th Grade classes of each Elementary School in the City was asked to participate with the theme of “Celebrating our River Heritage: Canals and Dams" as we recognize the very beginning of our community history and in celebration of our 200th Birthday. The posters are judged by the Tree Board Members awarding a Grand Prize Winner and an Honorable Mention Winner from each school that participated. The poster winners are given prizes, which will be handed out at the Arbor Day Ceremony.
