City to Celebrate 21st Arbor Day at the New Rain Garden Site

The City of Cuyahoga Falls is eagerly planning the annual Arbor Day Program, which will take place Friday, April 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the new Rain Garden Site located on 6th and 7th Streets between Lincoln and Silver Lake Avenues. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Each year, the City plants a tree to honor a facet of Cuyahoga Falls that has made a significant impact on our community. This year, a Swamp Oak tree will be planted in honor of "Rain Garden Reserve - A Cuyahoga Falls Community Conservation Rainscape".

Along with the program, the City selects one of our schools to participate in an Arbor Day Poster Contest. The 3rd Grade class at Lincoln Elementary School has been chosen this year with the theme being "How Does My Rain Garden Grow?," as a tribute to the city embarking on a new stormwater initiative. The posters are judged by the Tree Board Members awarding a Grand Prize Winner and four (4) Honorable Mention Winners. The poster winners are given prizes, which consist of educational and nature related items.

For more information on the Arbor Day Program please call the Office of the Service Director at 330-971-8240.
