City Implements a First-Time Homeowner Welcome Program for Qualified Home Buyers

Mayor Don Walters announces the launch of the First-Time Homeowner Welcome Program.  The premise behind the program is to provide incentives to prospective home buyers to purchase a home in Cuyahoga Falls.  When new residents sign up for City utilities, they will receive a welcome packet containing important City-related information.  The packet for a new resident qualifying under this program will include significant, cost-saving incentive offers from the City and participating local businesses.

Mayor Don Walters is seeking a new Planning Commission Member to replace a vacant seat on the Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission.

Mayor Don Walters is seeking a new Board of Zoning Appeals Member to replace a vacant seat on the Cuyahoga Falls Board of Zoning Appeals.

The Ice Rink at Falls River Square is CLOSED today!

Baby, its COLD outside! Due to the frigid temperatures, the Ice Rink at Falls River Square will be closed today. We will re-open tomorrow, February 16th, from 12-8pm. Stay warm!

 

Please note, tomorrow is the last day for the 2014/2015 Ice Rink Season.

The City of Cuyahoga Falls Electric System (CFES) is currently offering the following energy efficiency services and opportunities for residential and commercial electric customers.

Parks and Recreation Seeks Grant for Water Works Park Restroom Replacement

Parks and Recreation will be seeking a state grant to replace the restroom facilities next to the playground in Water Works Park.  The department is requesting citizen/park user feedback.  Are there certain things the department should take into consideration for park users (i.e. baby changing station, etc.)?  How do you feel the restroom replacement will have on the overall impact on the park?

The Summit Soil and Water Conservation District 2015 Clean Water Photography Contest

The Summit Soil and Water Conservation District is accepting entries for the 2015 Clean Water photography contest. Entries may be submitted now through September 1, 2015.

The contest theme for 2015 is “Honey-I Shrunk The Lawn” (Reducing the size of your lawn’s grassed area, using Native Plants and Healthy Landscaping Practices to Improve Water Quality.) In other words, redefining your yard space by down-sizing your turf grass area so that when it rains, more stormwater will remain on your land and out of the storm drains.

2015 Northeast Ohio Area II Envirothon-2015 Promoting “Urban/ Community Forestry”

Summit Soil and Water Conservation District is once again promoting the annual Area II Ohio Envirothon. The 2015 Area II Envirothon which will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Kent State University Regional Academic Center, 14111 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton, OH, 44021.  This event is an excellent opportunity for students to participate in an intellectually stimulating environmental competition.
