Take part in FallsQuest 2013. Some cities call this type of event a street scramble, an urban adventure race or a city search. Whatever the event is called, participants use a map to hike, bike or run the city in search of locations of historic or scenic interest. Our event will start from the Natatorium on Sunday, June 9th. The Free Family Version takes about two hours to search the center of town and answer some tricky questions. In previous years, participants have commented that for the first time in their lives they had seen something completely new to them about our fair city.
The Three Hour Bicycle and Four Hour Foot Versions are more competitive and cover all of the Falls and Silver Lake south of Graham Road. Participants search for more than 60 interesting locations, answering simple questions to prove their success. To make the challenge complete, most streets are unlabeled! The charge for the event is $10 for the public, but if you mention the City Department you work in, you will pay only $5. The department with the highest scoring participant will be recognized in the bike and foot divisions.
Because we need to know how many maps to print, all participants must pre-register through the event web site by Tuesday, June 4th. Payment will wait until your arrival at the event. All details about start times and what to bring are found at the web site. Type http://fallsquest.weebly.com/ or google FallsQuest.
