Building Department

The Department of Building & Zoning Inspection is located on the first floor of the Municipal Building. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, permits issued 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with the exception of major Holidays). The Building Department's primary functions are:

  • Review and approval of all residential and commercial plans for new construction or alterations/additions to existing structures.
  • Issuance of permits for building, heating & air conditioning, plumbing , electrical and refrigeration work.
  • Inspection by State Certified Building, HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Inspectors.
  • Issuance of Certificates of Occupancy for new construction, major renovations or changes of use.
  • Provide lists of contractors (General, Electric, HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Backflow Testers, Sewer Tappers, Fencing, Waterproofers, Fire Suppression, Signs) who are registered with the City. These lists include notation of which contractors are available for 24-hour emergency call-outs.
