American Municipal Power (AMP) Scholarship Program

Application information for the 2015 American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) Scholarship Program is available through local High School Guidance Offices through January 28, 2015.  AMP has established this scholarship program to encourage high school students in member communities to further their education and to create an awareness of careers in the municipal electric utility field.

The Cuyahoga Falls Electric System (CFES) may nominate one candidate for the Lyle B. Wright Scholarship and one candidate for the Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship.  High school seniors who will graduate in the spring, have met all the basic requirements for college or technical school  and have a 3.0 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale are encouraged to contact their guidance counselors for an application and detailed eligibility information. The amount of these one-time scholarship awards is $2,000.

The Lyle B. Wright Scholarship is available to eligible students whose household is served by the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System.  Students of parents or guardians are employed by CFES or AMP are not eligible for this scholarship.

The Richard H. Gorsuch Scholarship is available to eligible students whose parent or guardian is a Cuyahoga Falls Electric System employee, an AMP employee or an elected official of Cuyahoga Falls.

Students must complete the local nominee application form and submit it along with a letter of recommendation and an official high school transcript showing the student’s cumulative grade point average for six semesters. The links to these forms are listed below. Application materials must be submitted by 5 P.M.  Wednesday, January 28, 2015 to the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System, 2550 Bailey Road.

Application forms are available through High School Guidance Offices or at the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System (CFES). Students are urged to work closely with their school guidance counselors to ensure that application materials are submitted on time.

AMP Scholarship recipients will be selected based on grade point average, personal achievements, knowledge of public power and personal interview.   For more information, please contact your High School Guidance Office or the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System at 330-971-8060.
