Emergency Outdoor Warning System

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio - The City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio has completed an emergency outdoor warning system for the city. The project consists of seven (7) outdoor warning sirens on 50' poles. The system also includes an AM alert radio station that will broadcast the nature of the emergency and provide the public with a course of action.

Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don L. Robart stated, "We have worked very hard to find an outdoor warning system that will fit the needs of our growing community.

Jennings Avenue Storm & Sanitary Sewer Improvements


Sealed proposals will be received in the office of the Director of Public Service, Municipal Building, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, until 12:00 noon, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2006, with bids being opened in Conference Room "A", Second Floor, Municipal Building, 2310 Second Street, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, for the Jennings Avenue Storm and Sanitary Sewer Improvements, Phase II.

Leaf Pick-up Program

The first pickup of the City's Leaf Program will begin Monday, October 23rd for Area 'A' residents and Monday, October 30th for Area 'B' residents. As a reminder, leaves should be raked to the curb in loose piles by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup for your street. Call 330-971-8031 for leaf program pick-up schedules and other details.

PLEASE REMEMBER: DO NOT PARK cars on the street during pickup days. DO NOT RAKE or BLOW leaves into the street. Raking or blowing leaves into the street has caused extreme drainage problems and flooding situations.

Funeral Procession for Marine Sgt. Justin Walsh

Mayor Don L. Robart, requests all citizens of Cuyahoga Falls to honor the memory, service, and sacrifice of Marine Sgt. Justin Walsh on Thursday, October 19, 2006. Sgt. Walsh, a native of Cuyahoga Falls and 2001 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, was wounded in Iraq on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 and passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 from injuries he sustained. A funeral service is scheduled at First United Methodist Church at 245 Portage Trail beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sgt. Walsh will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.

Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce Tri-Community Health Expo

In a joint effort between the Cuyahoga Falls and the Stow-Munroe Falls Chambers of Commerce along with the cooperation of the cities of Cuyahoga Falls, Stow, and Munroe Falls, area residents are invited to attend the 2006 Tri-Community Health Expo on Saturday, November 4, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium on Fourth Street in Cuyahoga Falls.

The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies hosted by the mayors from Stow, Munroe Falls and Cuyahoga Falls.

Nightly Lane Closures of Portage Tr./Munroe Falls Ave./Newberry St. Intersection

Valerie Wax Carr, Director of Public Service, would like to alert residents and motorists to the nighttime utility work by Dominion East Ohio scheduled in the intersection of Portage Trail, Munroe Falls Avenue and Newberry Street, beginning October 16, 2006. During this work, lane closures will be required, and traffic will be maintained by the use of flaggers and signage. Work will run from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly. Emergency personnel have been notified.

The nightly lane closures are anticipated to take 3 to 4 weeks for completion.

Trick or Treat in Cuyahoga Falls - Saturday, October 28th 6 - 8 p.m.

Mayor Don L. Robart has announced trick-or-treat hours for the City. Trick or Treat will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 6 - 8 p.m. Trick-or-treat will follow the annual Halloween Party at Quirk Cultural Center being held the same day from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The Mayor wishes to remind all trick-or-treaters of the following safety tips:

1. Make sure you take a parent with you.

2. If you wear a mask, make sure you can see clearly.

3. Stop, look, and listen before crossing the street.

Akron Health Department Pet Rabbies Vaccination

The Akron Health Department, in our ongoing efforts to protect the health of Akron's citizens, has been sponsoring a series of low-cost rabies vaccination clinics for area pets in cooperation with Pet Guards, Inc.. Because pets often may encounter wild animals, such as raccoons, which may be carrying the rabies virus, making sure that pets are vaccinated against this virus is the most effective way to protect people from possible exposure to rabies. Each of the scheduled clinics will be vaccinating both dogs and cats for a minimal fee of only $5.00 per pet.

Fall Clean Up

For all Full Service Sanitation Customers on collection days, extra bags of trash and bulk items will be picked up curbside. Please have everything curbside by 7:00 am on collection day. Fall Clean Runs Monday September 11 thru Friday September 15 and Monday September 18 thru Friday September 22

Adopted City of D'Iberville celebrated with a survival Revival August 29, 2006

The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio adopted City of D'Iberville, Mississippi marked its one-year anniversary after Hurricane Katrina with a "Survival Revival." City representatives Valerie Wax Carr, Service Director, and Joe Brodzinski, Finance Director, attended a ceremony thanking the many volunteers who have contributed to the rebuilding of D'Iberville. Last fall the city of Cuyahoga Falls had approximately 100 people travel to D'Iberville over a six-week period to assist with hurricane relief. Cuyahoga Falls was the first outside group to come to D'Iberville's aid.
