Ice Rink Opening Exceeds All Expectations

Mayor Robart kicked off the winter season with the grand opening of the Ice Rink at Falls River Square Saturday, November 26th. Over 2,000 folks attended this spectacular day complete with great weather and an outstanding schedule of events. "The inaugural season of the outdoor ice rink was a complete success with over 16,000 people participating in last years activities, however, opening day attendance in 2005 exceeded last year by 71%," commented Susan Truby, Director of Development.


Last Two Weeks For City Leaf Program

The final two weeks of leaf pickup of the City's Leaf Program will begin Monday, November 21st for Area 'A' residents and Monday, November 28th for Area 'B' residents. As a reminder, leaves should be raked to the curb in loose piles by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup for your street. Change in Sanitation Collection Schedule Due To Thanksgiving Holiday

There will be a change in sanitation service because of the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday, November 24.



All Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Collections will be made on regularly scheduled days. All Thursday and Friday solid waste and recycling collections will be made one day later than normal on Friday and Saturday.


Natural Gas Aggregation Update

The City of Cuyahoga Falls has entered into a contract with Interstate Gas Supply for the natural gas aggregation program from November 2005 through October 2007.



Beginning with the November billing cycle, the rate for natural gas will be $13.84/mcf, which will most likely be reflected on the December bill. This is a 12-month fixed rate that is secured from November 2005 through October 2006. Initially, the City considered a variable rate option for the aggregation for November gas, however the market has dropped and a fixed rate has been established.


Doodlebug Memorial Garden Site Wins National Award

Service Director Valerie Wax Carr is pleased to announce that the Doodlebug Memorial Garden site has been awarded a First Place National Award by Keep America Beautiful (KAB) and will be honored at the KAB's 52nd National Conference in Orlando, FL on December 9, 2005. The Doodlebug Garden Memorial site was selected out of 25 national finalists for this award due to the outstanding efforts in Beautification & Community Improvement in the Youth Group category.

Police Department to conduct Halloween traffic detail

Ghouls / Goblins and traffic enforcement coming Halloween weekend !!!!! This is not a Trick, and certainly may not be a Treat for area motorists !!



The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department Special Operations Unit will be conducting a Halloween Blitz, a heavy saturation for enhanced traffic enforcement this upcoming Halloween weekend. Funds made available from the Governor's Highway Safety Office and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will be utilized for officers to strictly enforce Speed, DUI, Seatbelt, and Child Restraint laws.


ODOT To Close Second St. Highway Ramp In Cuyahoga Falls

Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio - Service Director Valerie Wax Carr announces the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will be closing the Second Street southbound entrance ramp to S.R. 8, in the City of Cuyahoga Falls, on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. The closure is required for ODOT to begin pouring the concrete deck on the Front Street Bridge over S.R. 8. Traffic will be detoured south on Second Street to Portage Trail, then East on Portage Trail to the southbound entrance ramp to Route 8.


ODOT To Close S.R. 8 Entrance/Exit Ramps For Paving

Service Director Valerie Wax Carr announces the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will close sections of four (4) entrance/exit ramps along S.R. 8 in the City of Cuyahoga Falls on November 1 & 2, 2005.



The closures are scheduled, weather permitting for November 1st & November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Below is the schedule of work to be performed:

Cuyahoga Falls Named 2005 Solid Waste Operator of the Year

Service Director Valerie Wax Carr is pleased to announce the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America named the City of Cuyahoga Falls 2005 Solid Waste Operator of the Year. The Solid Waste Operator of the Year Award is considered, but not necessarily awarded each year, to a member of the Chapter who, as an operator, manages either a landfill, transfer station, material recovery facility, hauling operation, compost facility or special waste collections and processing facility.

Funeral Procession For Sgt. Bryan W. Large

Mayor Don L. Robart, requests all citizens of Cuyahoga Falls to honor the memory, service, and sacrifice of Sgt. Bryan W. Large on Monday, October 17th, 2005. Sgt. Large, a native of Cuyahoga Falls and 1992 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, died in Iraq on Monday October 3rd, 2005. A funeral mass is scheduled at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church at 1905 Portage Trail starting at 11:00 a.m. Sgt. Large will be laid to rest at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park following the service.
