Assault Victim Discovered

Press Release:  Assault, CFPD Report # 2012-4399

On 2/25/2012 at 339AM Cuyahoga Falls Police responded to a man down on the ground behind a business in the 1700 Block of State Rd. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 32-year-old male who appeared to have been severely assaulted. The victim had lacerations and swelling about his head and face. There were no witnesses present.

Man Falls From Overpass

On 2/18/12 at 0115 hours Cuyahoga Falls Police responded to a report of a male walking on SR 8. As officers were enroute, a motorist on Howe Avenue observed something fall from the SR 8 overpass. A 42 year old male appeared to have fallen from the overpass on to Howe Avenue. The male had serious injuries from the fall and was treated by Cuyahoga Falls EMS and transported to Akron City Hospital. The incident is under investigation.

Man With Sledghammer At Wendy's Restaurant

On Monday, 2/13/12, at approximately 5:45pm, Cuyahoga Falls Police received a 911 call from the Wendy’s Restaurant at 460 Howe Ave reporting a man was smashing out the windows of the restaurant with a sledgehammer.

Prior to officers’ arrival, an off-duty Kent Ohio Police Officer, who was at Wendy’s with his son, was able to subdue the subject. There were numerous other customers in the restaurant as well.

CITY SIMPLIFIES ONLINE FILING FOR CITY TAXES

Mayor Don L. Robart announces an enhancement to the Online Income Tax service available on the City’s website. Residents with only W2 income, who have no overpayment, and who do not owe any tax will be able to submit their return electronically without having to mail in a paper return.

Methamphetamine Lab Found In Vehicle

On 2-6-2012 at approximately 1145 pm a Cuyahoga Falls Police Officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle on State Rd at Broad Blvd for an open container of alcohol in the motor vehicle. Further investigation revealed an active methamphetamine lab in the back of the vehicle. The Cuyahoga Falls Police Narcotics Unit responded to the scene and disassembled the methamphetamine lab. A methamphetamine lab disposal company also responded to the scene and removed the lab components.

 

Two suspects were arrested as a result of the traffic stop.

The City Asks For Your Assistance to Help Make Your Building Address More Visible

Mayor Don L. Robart is pleased to announce a new program to help identify structures in the city that do not have an address number readily visible from the street. City employees, during the course of their workday will be placing door hangers on residential and commercial buildings that do not have visible address numbers. These employees will not be entering your home or building for any reason. They will only hang the marker on a door advising of the following information.

Officer Struck By Drunk Driver

On 2/5/12 at 0225 hours Kimberly Stumpf was charged with OVI, BAC and Assured Clear Distance Ahead, after the vehicle that she was driving hit the rear of a Cuyahoga Falls Police cruiser that was on a traffic stop at Northampton Rd. and West Portage Trail. The impact caused the police cruiser to jump forward, striking a Cuyahoga Falls Police Officer. The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released. The incident is still being investigated and may result in further charges.

Arrest Made On Toys R Us Robbery

On 12/18/11 at about 0056 hrs. Toys R Us, 590 Howe Ave, reported an Aggravated Robbery to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Dept. A male suspect was reported to have approached a cashier, brandished a large knife and demanded money. After an investigation by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Dept. Detective Bureau an arrest has been made in the case.

Kids Bicentennial Birthday Bash Brings Family Fun to the Natatorium

Mayor Don L. Robart and the Bicentennial Committee are proud to announce a Family Movie Night at the Natatorium marking the City’s 2nd event in 2012 commemorating our 200th Birthday!
The Kids Bicentennial Birthday Bash will take place on Sunday February 19, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a DJ spinning some cool tunes! There will be dancing, contests and prizes and a photo opportunity with our very own costume character, Scrappy the Raccoon.
