CSX Track Maintenance at Broad Boulevard

The City of Cuyahoga Falls has been advised that CSX is scheduled to perform maintenance on the Broad Boulevard tracks between Monday, November 30th and Wednesday, December 9th, 2015.  During this time CSX will remove and replace those sections of train track that cross Broad Boulevard.   The road will be closed from the intersection of Tallmadge Rd / Newberry Street on the east side of the Railroad tracks,  to the on/off ramps of SR8 / Broad Boulevard on the west side of the tracks.

2016 American Municipal Power (AMP) Scholarship Program is Now Available

Mayor Don Walters announces that application information for the 2016 American Municipal Power (AMP) Scholarship Program is now available. AMP has established this scholarship program to encourage high school students in member communities to further their education and to create an awareness of careers in the municipal electric utility field.

Mayor Don Walters is seeking a new Planning Commission Member to replace a vacant seat on the Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission.

The Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission acts as the City's planning commissioner and maintains the City's master plan through the zoning map, land use controls, building/site design, land plotting, and street design and extension.

Mayor Walters Accepting Applications for 2016 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council

Mayor Walters has announced that he is now accepting applications for the 2016 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council. He is seeking eight (8) energetic, engaged students who reside in the City of Cuyahoga Falls and are in grades 9 through 12. Applications may be obtained at City Hall or at any of the local High Schools.

New State Mandated Municipal Income Tax Guidelines for 2016

WHAT'S NEW FOR 2016?

 

Pursuant to the passage of Amended Substitute House Bill 5 in December 2014, new state mandated municipal income tax guidelines have been established, effective with tax returns due for tax years beginning January 1, 2016. Ohio Revised Code, Chapter 718: Municipal Income Taxes, is the state law that municipalities are required to follow, and can be found at http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/718. Please reference this document to determine how the new state mandated changes affect your municipal taxable income. The section below details the changes to interest and penalties.  This is being published in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 718.27.

Kids' Castle at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium Closed Through November 1st.

Kids' Castle will be closed October 29th, through Sunday, November 1st for a maintenance issue. It will reopen at its regular time on Monday, November 2nd. We apologize for the inconvenience.

2015 Home Efficiency Kits are Available

Mayor Don Walters is pleased to announce that Home Energy Efficiency Kits are available for residential customers of the Cuyahoga Falls Electric System.  The 2015 special edition kits will be available while supply lasts, one per household.  Customers who have not yet picked up their kit this year, are asked to bring a copy of their utility bill or their driver’s license into the Utility Billing Office.
