Mayor Encourages Summertime Blood Donations to Honor First Responders

The City of Cuyahoga Falls is sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, August 6th, from 1 pm to 7 pm at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium.

Mayor Don Robart encourages all residents to participate in this special blood drive. "This is our annual 'Badges for Blood' Red Cross blood drive, whereby we honor the men and women in our local police and fire departments who put their lives on the line every day."

In addition to receiving a "Badges for Blood" T-shirt, all presenting donors will receive a coupon from Rita's Italian Ice in Cuyahoga Falls and will be automatically entered to win a $1000 grocery gift card.

While all blood types are needed, Type O is in high demand since it is the only type that can be transfused to patients in other blood groups such as A, B and AB.

Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.
