Ice Rink gets Icier!

Mayor Don L. Robart is pleased to announce a very special event this winter season. The City of Cuyahoga Falls has teamed up with the Ice Carving Team of the Hospitality Club at the University of Akron to create an Ice Exhibition at the Ice Rink in downtown Cuyahoga Falls.

The public is invited to attend this free event to watch the ice carving team perform at the Ice Rink at Falls River Square the weekend of January 19-21, 2007. The partnership between the Hospitality Club at the University of Akron and the City brings together a successful university and its renowned ice-carving program into a popular and lively winter festival. Carving teams from other cities throughout the state will also be performing.

The carving exhibition kicks off Friday, January 19 at 6:00pm with a compulsory competition by the students, under the direction of Chef Richard Alford of the University of Akron. Saturday's competition begins at 4:00pm and is a free-style competition whereby students will carve their own creations. Sunday's competition begins at 3:00pm with the entire team as they create a masterpiece on the stage at Falls River Square.

The Ice Rink at Falls River Square will be open throughout the competition and hot food and beverages will be available as well. The City will also be celebrating National Skate Week complete with prizes and giveaways.
